Culinary Arts

I love to cook.  "Understanding the Best Culinary Arts Program for You" is the name of an article I read in
The History of Culinary Arts blog. This is what I learned.

The Career through Culinary Arts Program, C-CAP, is trying to improve the quality of service in
restaurants. This organization offers scholarships and  internships to students, and assists schools through
product and equipment contributions. This organization also assists students by helping them with
decisions in choosing a college and career in the culinary arts. C-CAP also offers a Cooking Competition
to high school juniors and seniors in participating C-CAP high schools. Seniors who succeed in the
preliminary competition will advance to the Careers Through Culinary Process Competition for
scholarships. Recently, C-CAP has started a restaurant internship program that will prepare students for
jobs in a culinary profession.

A Career in Game Design

Most high school students are beginning to think about what type of career they would like to have when they finish school. Here are a few things I found out about a career in game design.

Being a successful game designer requires much more than a love for playing video games. They need to have a knowledge of things like history, math, creative writing, and design. They also need to have a good amount of life experiences to create games that are believable. Game designers usually work in teams on the projects they are creating. So it is important to have good communication skills and to be able to work with others.

Game designers can have different job titles, depending on what they do. Writers work on the script for a game, while level designers map out the many levels in a game. There are many other job titles also.

Colleges offer two-year, four-year, and graduate degree programs in game design.

The average yearly salary for a game designer is about $61,500.
